Electrolysis was first discovered by Dr. Anthony Carlisle when he was trying to produce hydrogen gas in the year 1800. Electrolysis happens when water is shocked with electricity. When this happens, a small amount of hydrogen and oxygen is converted to gas.
Typically, electrolysis separates water into alkaline or acidic water. Echo Water Machines have a proprietary technology that uses electrolysis to harvest hydrogen gas (H2) without changing the pH of the water to be alkaline or acidic. Then, hydrogen gas (H2) is dissolved into a second stream of water, so the H2 water you drink never touches the electrodes.
